You are here
Congratulations, you’ve already taken the first step in getting started – doing your research about the adoption process. Like any other important decision, adoption takes planning, careful consideration, and patience. To begin the Resource Family Approval (RFA) process, all prospective caregivers are required to complete several steps, which are listed below:
1) Attend the Resource Family Orientation meeting. This one-time meeting will provide you with specific details regarding how to become a Resource Family and provide permanency for a child. The meeting will highlight our agency functions, services provided, statistical information regarding the children in foster care, and the need for permanency. Social workers will discuss the application, approval and child placement processes. Orientation meetings are held at different locations throughout the county at varying times to best accommodate applicants' schedules. Orientation times and locations are listed below. No RSVP is needed and walk-ins are welcome. Please note, some locations fill up quickly and once full, we are unable to accommodate additional participants due to room size.
2) Complete and submit the Resource Family Approval application using the self address envelope. Both of these items are distributed to you at the Resource Family Orientation Meeting.
We look forward to working with you soon!
